Through daily movement practices, somatic acting techniques, and ensemble devising, participants will deepen their mind-body awareness and cultivate deeper connection with each other and their own creative process.
Grounded in the work of Christina Kapadocha, the internationally renowned Temper Theatre, and contemporary somatic traditions.
No matter your background, if you’re curious about the body, the breath, and the beauty of collective storytelling, this workshop is for you!
About Ash
Background
With a rich background in theatre, film, and choreography, Ash brings a distinctive, movement-informed perspective to acting. A proud member of both Equity and SAG-AFTRA, she began her artistic journey as a dancer and went on to earn a BFA in Acting from Abilene Christian University and a Master’s in Acting (with Distinction) from East 15 Acting School. During her training, she completed a residency at Shakespeare’s Globe, where she played Edgar in King Lear.
For on-screen work, she has trained with Berg Studios, Margie Haber, and Lesly Kahn. Her 20+ years of stage experience includes national tours with Casa Mañana Theatre (Fort Worth, TX) and B Street Theatre (Sacramento, CA). She was recently seen in Dissent at Edinburgh Fringe, directed by Cassandra Ambe.
In addition to performing, she is an accomplished writer and producer. Her original works include Stupid Cupid, Lullaby Girl, and Desert—for which she received a Best Actress award—as well as Signs of Life (a feature film) and Pan’s Asylum (a full-length play). Both Signs of Life and Pan’s Asylum are currently in pre-production, with Pan’s Asylum set to premiere in London in 2026.
She is currently pursuing a PhD in Theatre Practice, with a research focus on somatic movement and acting.
Teaching, Choreography, & Workshops
Ash has an extensive teaching portfolio that spans a variety of institutions, including the International Performing Arts Academy, Page Parkes Modeling & Talent Agency, Crossroads Kids (where she directed both youth and adult productions), Theatre Arlington, summer camps at Garry Marshall Theatree and ActUPs—an organization through which she also taught at-risk youth in lower-income schools. She has also worked with the Burbank Unified School District, teaching primary education and substituting as a high school dance instructor.
Her background in dance & choreography serves as her approach to character and the framework from which she helps other performers. She now teaches workshops worldwide that emphasize somatic practices, helping actors connect physically and emotionally while fostering a safe creative space.
